I thought the MR was an endiro bike and MT was Dual Sport street legal? Didn't even know they made a 125, only knew of 175 & 250. MRs used premix and definitly did not 'Thump'. I raced for American Honda in the 70's and the only way we could compete with the PE and IT 175-185-200 was to put an MR175 engine in a CR125 chasis, add an MR tank and have a high pipe fabricated. Not very bullet proof after porting and getting some real horsepower.

Later I put a Can-Am TNT 125 engine into a MX4 chasis and won the western region enduro 125 championship. Well, now to bring this thread back alive since i found it on google! I recently became the proud owner of a 1974 Honda MT125. Very good condition i might add.

One front sprocket cover and a paint touch up on the crank case and it should be eligible for collector status in my province! I would like to say that these bikes are great fun! They aren't speedy by all means, but I still do long commutes on mine. If you live in a city type area, this bike is all that you need!

I find the economy is about 5.4L/100km. I can cruise at about 80km/h (50mph) With a smaller rear sprocket it could go a little faster at the risk of a bit worse economy.

I'm 6'4', 215lbs, and completely new to riding and have to opportunity to pickup a clean looking Honda 125MT, please see add below. Would this be enough bike for me to use as a commuter? My commute is only 5.5 miles one way at speeds less than 50 mph.
